Barron Trump, the youngest member of the Trump family, made a rare public appearance at his father’s inauguration. But beyond the public events, his life is a mystery
Barron Trump has been trying to live as a regular citizen since he was born to his rather famous parents. Like many kids his age, the almost 19-year-old attends university (New York University’s Stern School of Business, in fact) albeit flanked by Secret Service. According to numerous sources, he loves video games and usually socialises through them. All clues point out that the youngest Trump has been, so far, attempting a quiet life. So, when his father, 47th United States President Donald Trump, was inaugurated back to the White House, all eyes were on the youngest Trump.
Barron’s surprise appearance prompted everyone to pick up on his every move, from his towering height to his perfunctory way to how he stood in front of a statue of Ulysses S. Grant. Details about the elusive teenager are as scarce as his public appearances, but here are some key things to know.
1. Barron Trump is ‘almost as tall’ as LeBron James
Media outlets say that Barron Trump likes football more than basketball, but he can definitely use his height to his advantage should he find himself switching sports. He is reportedly as tall as hardcourt legend LeBron James, who is a towering 2.06m. However, other sources claim that the young Trump is 2.01m. Regardless of the discrepancy, Trump is by far the tallest member of his family.
2. Barron Trump won’t live in the White House
During President Trump’s first term, Melania Trump admitted that adjusting to life in the White House and redecorating posed a challenge, especially with much of the décor reflecting the preferences of former President Barack Obama’s daughters, including a notable abundance of pink. This time, however, she anticipates a smoother transition, especially as Barron will remain in New York to focus on his studies. Melania plans to divide her time between New York and Washington, emphasising that her primary focus remains on being a devoted mother to her son.
3. Barron Trump still speaks Slovenian
In addition to English, the teenage Trump is fluent in his mother’s mother tongue, Slovenian. According to Melania, her son uses Slovene to speak to his grandmother.
4. Barron Trump has been the subject of fake news
Barron’s aversion to being in the public eye makes almost anything about him newsworthy, and he has been the subject of fake reports. In 2024, a screenshot of Barron’s supposed Facebook status made social media rounds. It said, “To those who may consider me ignorant, arrogant, or self-righteous: While I have no desire to prove myself to you, I want you to know that at just 18 years old, I have earned the respect of those who are ready to get sacrificed for our country.” A Trump spokesperson has denied that this was from Barron, who has no known social media account.
A few months earlier, a fake photo of Barron attending the Butler rally where his father was shot and wounded also circulated on X.
5. Barron Trump may be following in his father’s real estate footsteps
Just a few days after his father’s assassination attempt in July 2024, Barron and his friends incorporated a real estate firm called Trump, Fulcher & Roxburgh Capital Inc. However, the company was dissolved in November. Business partner Cameron Roxburgh clarified that they shuttered the project to avoid media attention, but they have big plans to relaunch it in 2025. The company will reportedly make luxury residential communities complete with golf courses and aims to be enveloped in the Trump organisation.
