8 guests we were surprised—and puzzled—to see at Donald Trump’s inauguration

Donald Trump is officially the 47th president of the United States of America. We looked at the fascinating and eclectic roster of attendees who attended the inauguration, and delved into the possible reasons they were invited

The presidential inauguration is always a spectacle to behold, but a second term elevates the occasion to an entirely new level. Combining tradition with grandeur—and an eclectic guest list that never fails to turn heads—the ceremonies welcoming Donald Trump as the 47th President of the United States were political theatre at its finest.

Naturally, the event brought together an illustrious mix of former presidents, global dignitaries and corporate titans. But beyond the expected power players, it was the presence of social media influencers and unexpected celebrity appearances that injected a dose of intrigue into the proceedings. With a blend of the traditional and the controversial, Trump’s return to the White House reaffirmed that his era continues to defy convention at every turn.1. Dana White and Joe Rogan

Ultimate Fighting Champion president Dana White and US President Trump are long-time friends. Trump helped support UFC when it was still struggling to gain mainstream acceptance, allowing the mixed-martial-arts promotion company to hold events in Trump-owned locations. For his part, White endorsed Trump during both his presidential candidacies.

While Trump has never been featured in The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Rogan endorsed his candidacy in 2024. He is also part of UFC’s broadcast team.

2. Logan Paul and Jake Paul

The Paul brothers have had several interactions with Trump over the years, with both endorsing the latter for president. Logan Paul interviewed the president on his podcast in 2024, while Trump shared a TikTok video teasing a face-off between them. The Pauls’ mother, Pam Stepnick, also joined them in the inauguration.

3. Wayne Gretzky

The Great One didn’t miss out on this event—after all, Trump had said that he wanted Wayne Gretzky to become Canada’s Prime Minister. The hockey legend was once name-checked by Trump when the latter suggested that Canada become the US’ 51st state and encouraged Gretzky to run for Prime Minister.

4. Conor McGregor

Conor McGregor has publicly expressed support for Donald Trump in the past, praising Trump’s approach to leadership and business and often citing his confidence and success. In 2016 McGregor said that he liked Trump’s directness and his non-politician approach to things, drawing a parallel between their bold, outspoken personalities.

6. Barron Trump

It should go without saying that the only son of Trump with his third wife Melania should be at his inauguration. However, the youngest Trump has always actively avoided the spotlight, especially since he entered New York University’s Stern School of Business last September. The entire Trump family came in full force, including Trump’s other children, Donald Jr., Ivanka, Eric and Tiffany.
